Seven grantees receive funding for water and sewer infrastructure improvements

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (Nov. 29, 2021) – Today, Gov. Andy Beshear awarded more than $2.5 million to one city and six utilities for 10 projects in Floyd, Magoffin and Johnson counties.

The funding, from the Better Kentucky Plan’s $250 million Cleaner Water Program, will deliver clean drinking water and improved sewer and water systems. State officials estimate that the program will create approximately 3,800 jobs across the commonwealth.

Brandon Holmes, the former deputy director of Neighborhood Services, was elevated to director by the Covington Board of Commissioners recently to replace Ken Smith, who was promoted to city manager on Sept. 7.
