Kentucky State University unveils new video highlighting Thoro10, also known as the 10 Essential Skills, as part of the Kentucky Graduate Profile Academy. This dynamic new video is the first of its kind at the state standard level and underscores the University’s commitment to equipping students with the critical competencies needed to succeed in their careers, communities, and personal lives.
The Kentucky Graduate Profile Academy was launched in 2021 by the Kentucky Council on
Postsecondary Education as a statewide collaborative initiative to embed 10 essential skills into all academic programs across Kentucky’s public institutions. These skills provide a shared language for faculty, staff, students, and employers to articulate the value of higher education and its connection to workforce readiness. KSU is actively weaving these essential skills into its general education framework, degree programs, and student support services as part of its Thoro10 initiative. The Thoro10 Essential Skills:

- Interact effectively with people from different backgrounds
- Adapt to changing circumstances while leading and supporting others
- Perform professionally

- Apply academic knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Use information for decision-making
KSU joins all eight four-year public institutions and 16 Kentucky Community and Technical College System campuses in fostering unified graduate outcomes, and elevating the profile of Kentucky’s higher education collectively.
